Unexpected visitors
This family of ducks turned up on my daughter’s garden pond last week, much to our family’s delight. Unfortunately they seem to have decided to move on.

Just in case you have forgotten what I look like. This one taken when we were having our VE Day street party yesterday. We all brought our food out to have in the front gardens. Then I had a walk around and spoke to people (at a distance of course) some of whom I'd hadn't spoken to before, so it was all very pleasant. Then we had BINGO, something I wouldn't normally choose to do but it was quite fun. And the weather was so lovely.

As you know Danbury is sand and gravel country. Hoynors - where I live - was a sand and gravel pit before converting itself into a housing area. As you can guess drainage is not a problem! Rain falls and rapidly drains away - gardening is difficult! Smallish trees survive but tend to die when they reach a certain size and the only plants that survive are those which really like dry conditions. Being walled with no tree shading means it gets very hot in summer. I have discovered that growing in pots is more successful than soil and this has meant soil areas have disappeared and pots have increased.
Seeing the lovely gardens in of members in summer has left envious. My garden tends to be spartan (bit like my paintings!) Never the less with all this spare time available the garden is being set up for the summer - so take a walk around it ( see if you can catch the 3 second dance from Kate).

Fruit Bowl
We can still be seen walking the Church graveyard every afternoon, pleasant at the moment but with the change in weather next week it could be a cool and windy experience.
Anyhow I had a break from painting this week, gardening, but managed one masterpiece yesterday.

Cards
It's been time to make cards for Bonnie, Andrew and Stella's birthdays so here they are.
We've had a party in the Close this afternoon and neighbors chatted to Tim through the window.
Hope all's well with you guys.
